Degree Girl " Sheilandra"

May 2, 2018

Growing up in Scotlandville, Louisiana Sheilandra Cobbs did not know what she wanted be in life after graduating from Scotlandville Magnet High in 2003 let alone ever think she would have her degree. She always knew that she was smart, intelligent, determined, and capable but she knew a four-year traditional university would not be her path. Back in 2006 she was working full-time for a company called Rebath of Baton Rouge and they were in the midst of growing and she had expressed to them about going back to school so they gave her a choice, she could stay and grow with the company or go back to school. She decided to go back to school and they made the decision to let her go, after that everything changed for the better. First, she graduated from Louisiana Technical College getting her Certificate as a medical office assistant. After graduating she started her career and was offered a position at BlueCross BlueShield of Louisiana 2008. She was there for five years. During her Tenure there she obtained her Associates degree in Office Administration from ITI Technical College after graduation in 2011 she decided to go for her Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration at University of Phoenix and she finished in 2016.

Currently, she is employed full-time at UnitedHealth group and living her dream of working from home as a Project Manager in Provider Services. She is also enrolled in Graduate school at University of Phoenix in their Dual Master’s Program going for her MBA and her Masters in Health Administration, she will graduate in March of 2019. She ultimately wants to be a CEO of a health plan at a health Insurance company. In her spare time, she loves to serve and is a proud sponsor and volunteer of 29:11 Mentorship program under the Leadership of Tremaine Sterling.  She also recently became a member of the Junior League of Baton Rouge. She would like to thank the Lord Jesus Christ for everything that he has done in her life because without him her path would not be possible. The scripture that she lives by is Romans 8:28  And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.
